Tokyo, Japan
Thoughts & Images
Most major cities have one iconic area that is sometimes referred to as the heart of the city. If most cities are like humans having one heart, Tokyo is like a squid having multiple. Places like Shibuya, Shinjuku, Ginza, Asakusa, or Harajuku, have enough life pulse to be the heart of a whole city on their own.
Tokyo is a roaring city whose pace reflects that of its bullet trains. It is both overwhelming and beautiful. And although it expands for miles the streets are tight, making the city into a labyrinth where getting lost is basically unavoidable. But while you are lost you are not missing out, because you are sure to stumble upon a cheap soba restaurant or a little shop or a massive shrine you had no clue you were even remotely close to. The few days I spent in Tokyo have given me a much better understanding of why people are so drawn to this city.
Below are some of my favorite shots.
