Ancient Gardens
Sankeien Garden - Yokohama, Japan
This garden featured buildings that were 200 years old. Ponds filled with cranes and koi made the perfect backdrop for those who adorned a kimono to walk these historic grounds. It's remarkable to me that I can visit a garden that is "older" than the country I grew up in (happy 150th Canada). Japan has a long history, rich in culture which is exquisitely preserved in its historic sites and within the spirit of its people. Japan is known for preserving its past and pushing into the future. Its equality exciting to indulge in either one of these realities, but I think there is unarguably a charm in the old which the new can only attain through patients. I don't feel like I need to say much more. This is a place one goes to spoil themselves in beauty of the garden, so I will let it speak for its self.
