Kyoto, Japan
Thoughts & Images
When you think of Japanese culture, you're probably thinking of somewhere like Kyoto. It feels worlds away from the futuristic city of Tokyo. It isn't filled with high rises and neon but instead with temples and kimonos. It is a piece of the past that had been perfectly preserved in every way. Not only are the shrines, castles, and shops well-kept, but the culture of the old world lives on in the people. Although by the time I went to Kyoto I had been in Japan for more than two months, it made me feel like I had just arrived. I didn't realize it at the time, but looking back, my journey in Japan would not have been complete without visiting this ancient city.
